Company Profile & History

Back in 1965, the cooperation between the American companies Crown Rubber (Ohio) and General Foam Corporation (New York) was sealed by the creation of CROWN GENERAL INTERNATIONAL in Tessenderlo, Belgium.

The manufacturing of rubber foam in Belgium became a fact, focusing several markets.

In 1968, the company introduced the typical mats one sees at about any door entry, better known as 'dirt catchers'.
By 1972, it was time to build more manufacturing facilities to follow the company's growth.
PVC coatings and PVC foam were added to the company's specialties.

In 1978 the Belgian management of the company – still belonging till then to an American multinational – took over the company and ran it wholly indepently.

After a steady growth, in 1984, it was time to yet expand. Close to Tessenderlo, in Geel, a production plant for polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE) was taken over, putting out 6000 tons per annum.

In 2000 Crown General created a new superstrong packagingfilm “Polycron-S ® “.
